Zero Hunger with Langar

Our cause

Inspired into existence with the clear purpose of replicating the concept of Langar everywhere so there will be no hunger anywhere. Langar is the concept of free, compassionate, food for ALL regardless of faith, gender, age or social status.

The movement has set up community led kitchens in rural locations at early learning centres and schools serving 150,000 children a month across Southern Malawi and, from January 2023, serving 50,000 meals a month in Kenya. Serving at places of education keeps children in learning.

Zero Hunger with Langar - Kenya

how we do it

We setup free volunteer-led community kitchens at places of education in the heart of rural communities suffering from the scourge of hunger. Community volunteers [often parents and villagers] get together to form local serving circles to help prepare, cook and serve meals daily to children who attend the school.

Every month field officers from our dedicated ground team, personally, visit each school to deliver a specially formulated Zer0 Hunger with Langar food mix, that has been fortified with essential vitamins and minerals, as well record progress and monitor the well-being of the children we serve. As soon as daily serving is stable and attendance is increasing, we source and, if required, lease farming land owned by the local community, so us agronomists can devise a grow plan to start laying the groundwork for the supplementary, self-sustaining zer0rganics food system.
